BHOPAL: Former chief minister Digvijaya Singh on Thursday met state Congress president Kamal Nath and AICC general secretary Deepak Babaria at the state PCC office and held a closed-door meeting with them. Sources in the party said the three leaders discussed election strategy for the upcoming assembly polls in November.

At the meeting, the leaders agreed that there are an estimated 10,000 to 20,000 fake voters in each constituency and "the only way to counter this menace is to approach the Election Commission and press for linking of Aadhar Cards to voters’ list before the elections."

The meeting which lasted for more than an hour, saw the three top leaders discussing Dalit and tribal voting patterns. There are 35 SC reserved seats and 47 ST reserved constituencies in the state and over the years, BJP has been winning most of them.

PCC chief Kamal Nath said that BJP wants to change the Constitution, which was framed by Baba Saheb BR Ambedkar.

"Ambedkar had admitted that it was Congress that gave him the opportunity to frame the Constitution of India. Had Babasaheb not framed the Constitution, think of the plight of Dalits today," Singh said.

"History is witness that RSS had burnt the pages of the Constitution. So long as Dalits voted for the Congress, the party did not lose elections,” Singh added.

The former chief minister and Rajya Sabha MP insisted on his second yatra "to mobilise the party workers and prep them up for the electoral battlefield, sources said.
